Volunteering
If you're interested in getting more involved with the Monmouthshire Walking Festival, or in walking generally, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're a trained walk leader or first-aider, have a passion for a subject that could be a theme for a walk, or simply have a few hours to spare and would like to help put on a fantastic walking festival for 2010 and years to come, please get in touch.
Monmouthshire County Council's Countryside Service has an enthusiastic band of volunteers from all walks of life, who lead walks, test public rights of way to assess their accessibility, and help with distributing information about walks and walking events. More volunteers are always welcome, and full training can be provided if you are new to leading walks or providing first-aid. It's a great way to get out into the countryside, to meet like-minded people and make a small but significant difference to the quality of life in Monmouthshire.
We also hope that the walking festival will continue to become an annual event for Monmouthshire (funding is available for the 2010 event only); however, support can be given to assist volunteers to host future walking festivals.
So if you feel that you can make a contribution, however large or small, please contact Louise McGuinness, 2010 Festival Coordinator, on 01873 736035.
